February 2025 - A Note from Our Co-Presidents Dear NIRI LA Community, We want to wish everyone a happy new year. As we reflect on the close of Q4, we want to acknowledge both the successes we shared and the challenges our community has faced. We ended the year on a strong note, with an outstanding turnout at our Buyside Panel and a festive gathering at Esters for our holiday event. However, as we moved into January, Los Angeles County was struck by unimaginable devastation from multiple fires. In the midst of this crisis, we also witnessed remarkable resilience and generosity—from first responders on the front lines to neighbors helping neighbors. As a community, we stand together in support of those impacted. On behalf of NIRI LA, we made a contribution to BStrong, an organization providing direct emergency assistance to those in need. We hope to see many of you on March 24th at the Capital Grille for the rescheduled Activist event. Additionally, we are planning two NIRI in your neighborhoods - one in West LA at The Cloverfield and one in Conejo Valley on February 28th. Geri and Anne |

BUY-SIDE PANEL EVENT RECAP FEATURING: CAPITAL RESEARCH GLOBAL INVESTORS, CAPITAL GROUP, GRANITE INVESTMENT PARTNERS & THE CYPRESS FUND |
December 2, 2024: NIRI LA was thrilled to host a great interactive event discussing best practices and challenges in investor relations (IR), emphasizing the qualities that make an IR professional effective, the dynamics between buy-side and sell-side participants, and approaches to corporate communication. The conversation covered topics including the importance of honesty, transparency, and accessibility in IR, strategies for handling short-seller reports, and the evolving role of technology in investor communication. Practical insights into preparing for earnings calls, investor days, and fostering buy-side relationships were also shared, alongside broader reflections on the intersection of communication, culture, and corporate strategy. With more than 30 practitioners in attendance, the event provided an excellent opportunity for networking and gaining valuable insights as IR professionals. |

NIRI Los Angeles Member Spotlight: Faheem Kahn - Investor Relations Manager, Confluent How did you get started in investor relations, and what drew you to this field? I started my career working in different areas of finance, gaining experience in corporate finance, valuation, and FP&A. As I progressed, I wanted to find a role that would allow me to bring all these different skill sets together in a meaningful way. That curiosity led me to explore investor relations, and I began speaking with IR professionals to learn more about the field. What really drew me in was how dynamic the role is—investor relations requires wearing multiple hats, from financial analysis and market communications to corporate strategy and relationship management. I’ve always been fascinated by the markets, and IR uniquely blends financial expertise with storytelling and strategic positioning. It felt like the perfect intersection of my interests, allowing me to leverage my background while staying engaged with the ever-evolving financial landscape. What advice would you give to someone just starting out in investor relations? My biggest advice for someone just starting out in investor relations is to always stay curious and proactive. IR is a fast-paced field where anticipating questions and staying ahead of the curve is key. The more you can think like an investor or analyst, the better prepared you'll be to address concerns and communicate effectively. Take the time to deeply learn about the company—its strategy, operations, and competitive positioning. The better you understand the business and industry, the more confident you’ll be in crafting clear, compelling messaging that resonates with investors. Stay engaged, ask questions, and never stop learning. Can you describe a memorable experience or highlight from your career in investor relations? One of the most memorable moments of my career in investor relations was ringing the opening bell at NASDAQ during our company’s two-year IPO anniversary. It was an incredible experience to stand on that stage, surrounded by our team, and see the excitement and energy firsthand. That same day, we hosted our first-ever Investor Day, which made the experience even more meaningful. |
